Certified Veterinary Practice Manager (CVPM) Recertification 07/01/2016

To maintain certification, the Certified Veterinary Practice Manager must accumulate forty-eight (48) continuing education hours and submit documentation along with the $210 recertification fee every two (2) years. Professional credits for recertification may be accumulated in a wide variety of ways. Certified Veterinary Practice Managers involved in the profession have no difficulty maintaining certification.

Be sure you have the latest CVPM guidelines for applicable continuing education. The guidelines were updated in 2013 effective January 1, 2014. You can find the must current guidelines on the DOCUMENTS AND RESOURCES page.

(select Content & Features - Professional Development)

Renewals after 07/31/2016 will incur a $100 late fee.

Continuing education must be earned between 01/01/2014 and 07/01/2016 for your renewal.

All renewals must now be completed online. If you do not have the ability to scan your documents for online submission, you may submit your paper documentation to the VHMA Office along with a $50 administrative fee for the staff to process.

INACTIVE STATUS:
At least three (3) months prior to your renewal date, members in good standing may request Inactive status for a period not to exceed seven (7) years.  An Inactive Status fee is required annually.  Fees are determined by the Board and may change from time-to-time, currently the fee is $100.

Inactive members may not use the CVPM designation while Inactive.

Inactive status may be used only once during a certificant’s career and must be approved at least three (3) months before the renewal date.

At the time of regaining Active Status, all then current renewal requirements apply and a new renewal period begins.

FAILURE TO RENEW CERTIFICATION:
If the CVPM recertification lapses for more than thirty (30) days past the due date, there will be a late fee charge of $100 to renew within twelve (12) months of the renewal date. This allows the CVPM an extension to attain necessary continuing education credit should a CVPM find them self lacking for a certain renewal period. Note, any credit gained to satisfy a prior period’s requirement will not carry over and also apply during the current period. The next renewal date will remain fixed, and will not be dependent on when the continuing education requirement is satisfied. (In other words, if a CVPM is six (6) months late when he satisfied the continuing education requirement, he will then would have eighteen (18) months to complete another forty-eight (48) hours of management continuing education.)

If the CVPM recertification lapses more than 12 months, the individual will be decertified.  Reapplication and testing at normal fees will be required to continue to use the CVPM designation.
